Vortices and 2D Bosons: A Path-Integral Monte Carlo Study

چکیده
The vortex system in a high-Tc superconductor has been studied numerically using the mapping to 2D bosons and the Path Integral Monte Carlo method. We find a single first-order transition from an Abrikosov lattice to an entangled vortex liquid. The transition is characterized by an entropy jump of ∆S ≈ 0.27kB per degree of freedom and a Lindemann number cL ≈ 0.29. At low fields, λ ≈ a0, the density is reduced by ∆ρ/ρ ≈ 0.0003 upon melting. The vortex liquid corresponds to a bosonic superfluid, with ρs = ρ even in

Trapped Slender Vortex Filaments in Statistical Equilibrium
The statistical mechanics of nearly parallel vortex filaments confined in the unbounded plane by angular momentum, first studied by Lions and Majda (2000), is investigated using a mean-field approximation to interaction and a spherical constraint to develop an explicit formula for the mean square vortex position or length scale of the system, R, verified with Path Integral Monte Carlo simulatio...

Path-Integral-Monte-Carlo simulation has been used to calculate the properties of a two-dimensional (2D) interacting Bose system. The bosons interact with hard-core potentials and are confined to a harmonic trap. Results for the density profiles, the condensate fraction, and the superfluid density are presented. By comparing with the ideal gas we easily observe the effects of finite size and th...

Using path-integral Quantum Monte Carlo we study the low-temperature phase diagram of a two-dimensional superconductor within a phenomeno-logical model, where vortices have a finite mass and move in a dissipative environment modeled by a Caldeira-Leggett term. The quantum vortex liquid at high magnetic fields exhibits superfluidity and thus corresponds to a superinsulating phase which is charac...

The vortices in a high-Tc superconductor with strong correlated pinning centers have been studied numerically using the mapping to charged bosons in two-dimensions(2D) and the Monte-Carlo algorithm. Considering the viscous dissipa-tion of moving vortices we derived a nonlinear voltage response expression which describes different regimes and their crossover uniformly. This equation accords with...
